GreenEsteem Project Launches with Kick-Off Meeting in Poznan
The GreenEsteem consortium met at the Adam Mickiewicz University Campus in beautiful Poznan, Poland. From October 15th to 17th, 2025, the six consortium partners from Poland, Bulgaria, and Austria got to know each other better and collaboratively planned the first steps to make GreenEsteem a great success.
GreenEsteem is an EU-funded project dedicated to fostering collaboration between citizens, policymakers, businesses, and academia to co-create practical Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for a greener, more resilient future. NBS are actions that tackle climate change, environmental degradation, and other societal challenges by protecting and restoring ecosystems across our cities. They can play a crucial role to deal with problems like flooding and heat, while also making our cities healthier and more flourishing places to live.

The overall objectives are to:
- IDENTIFY & MAP good practices, barriers and requirements for better collaborative knowledge valorisation and a successful twin transition
- CO-EVALUATE & CO-DESIGN sustainable implementation and maintenance of NBS for better ecosystem integrity, climate change adaptation and mitigation
- TRANSFER best practices through a capacity building programme and strategic cooperations, overcoming gaps in knowledge, resources and skills
- MULTIPLY best practices and capacities, translating collaborative knowledge valorisation models to different fields across Europe and beyond
- BOOST awareness and impact, upscaling the uptake of project results through effective communication, networking and collaboration activities
The mission is to empower diverse stakeholders to work hand-in-hand for knowledge co-creation, making the development of scientific insights more collaborative, accessible, and sensitive to society’s needs. For this endeavour, the project brings together expertise from the natural and social sciences disciplines for NBS, as well as experts in co-creation methods and community engagement. Both living lab locations – Konin and Sofia – are supported by a university-local actor partnership.

Highlights of the meeting:
The policy and project officers joined the meeting online, providing the big picture and emphasising the valuable opportunities to connect with sister projects and other initiatives in the pursuit of boosting knowledge valorisation – a commitment to conduct research and innovation with and for society!
The team immersed itself in VR technology, teleporting into the digital twin version of the university campus and starting to virtually design their surroundings. This provided a first-hand experience of the tool that will be advanced for the co-creation activities in Konin and Sofia.
The kick-off meeting was a successful event, achieving a common understanding of the project and its goals among all partners while fostering a positive and collaborative atmosphere. The team is highly motivated to jump right into the efforts to advance the co-creation of knowledge for NBS and beyond.
